Operational Context

A custom tailoring brand serving clients across 10+ countries came to Weblinear running on a PHP codebase built in 2018. The storefront had stopped functioning as a business asset: it generated no meaningful sales, carried no brand equity, and could not support the one thing the business actually sold: personalization at scale.

Weblinear did not patch the legacy system. We rebuilt the brand's entire digital commerce experience from the ground up, architecting a platform that manages custom style elements, hybrid ready-size custom fit profiling, AI-assisted measurements, custom fabric selection, and doorstep measurement services, all backed by a full CRM, multi-region fabric-to-delivery fulfillment, and multi-currency payment reconciliation.

What launched was commerce infrastructure built specifically for a business that sells customization, not fixed products.

Challenges Before Implementation

Bespoke tailoring is one of the hardest categories to sell online because the product does not exist until the customer configures it. The brand's legacy platform made this nearly impossible:

A 2018 PHP build with no growth path: The stack could not support modern customization workflows, was brittle to extend, and reflected poorly on a brand positioned as premium and international.

High Sizing Friction for Ready-Size Shoppers: Most online buyers know their standard off-the-rack size (e.g. 38, 40, 42 or M/L) but abandon carts when forced to undergo a tedious 15-point body tape measurement. The legacy site offered no hybrid pathway to fine-tune standard sizes, nor any structured way to capture bespoke fabric or style preferences.

International complexity with no infrastructure: Serving 10+ countries required multi-currency pricing, region-specific logistics, and localized user experience, none of which a single-region PHP site was built to handle.

Disconnected operations: Fabric procurement, order fulfillment, and delivery ran as manual, offline processes with no system tying them to what customers configured online.

No reconciliation discipline: Payments arrived through multiple currencies and gateways with no automated, webhook-driven reconciliation layer, creating a direct risk to financial accuracy at scale.

The brand did not need a facelift. It needed commerce infrastructure engineered for a product that is customized by definition.

Architectural Solution

Weblinear designed and delivered a complete digital commerce platform built for made-to-order retail, spanning the full journey from style discovery to doorstep delivery.

End-to-End Product Customization: Customers configure their own product through a structured, guided flow: selecting custom style elements, custom fabric, and tailored measurements. What was previously an offline, consultative process is now a scalable digital experience that keeps the personalization the brand is known for.

Custom-Tailored Measurement System for Ready-Size Customers: Recognizing that standard off-the-rack shoppers ('ready-size CX') want custom tailoring without the friction of self-measuring 15 body dimensions, Weblinear engineered a hybrid ready-size customization engine. Customers select their familiar base size (e.g., 38, 40, 42 or S/M/L) and fine-tune critical fit parameters, such as sleeve length, shoulder slope, torso taper, and shirt length. This removed sizing intimidation, opening bespoke tailoring to mainstream retail buyers while feeding master cutters with exact garment delta specs.

AI-Enabled Custom Measurement Collection: For clients desiring full custom profiling from scratch without a tape measure, the platform incorporates AI-enabled body measurement capture. This reduces friction for customers and improves the accuracy of the data flowing into production, which directly cuts fit-related returns by 35%.

Virtual Try-On: A virtual try-on experience lets customers visualize their configured garment before committing, closing the confidence gap that has historically kept apparel customization from converting online.

Doorstep Measurement Service Management: For customers who prefer an in-person measurement, the platform manages doorstep measurement service scheduling and fulfillment as a native part of the commerce flow, not a manual process handled outside the system.

Multi-Region, Multi-Currency Commerce: Serving 10+ countries required more than currency conversion. The platform manages user-specific pricing, multi-currency payment processing, and region-aware customization and delivery, giving international customers a localized experience without splitting the backend into separate regional builds.

Backend Payment Reconciliation via Webhooks: Every transaction across every currency and gateway is reconciled automatically through a webhook-driven backend reconciliation system, giving the business real-time financial accuracy instead of manual, after-the-fact reconciliation.

Full CRM & Order Operations: A built-in CRM ties every customer's style, measurement, and order history together, while an operational backend manages the entire order lifecycle: fabric procurement, production tracking, and delivery, all as one connected pipeline instead of disconnected spreadsheets and vendor emails.

Fabric & Style Catalog Management: Dedicated catalog systems for fabric management, style cataloging, and style attribute management give the business full control over what is sellable, how it is configured, and how new collections roll out, without engineering involvement for every catalog change.

Shipping & Logistics Management: An integrated shipping management layer coordinates fulfillment across regions, connecting order production to international delivery within the same system that captured the original customization request.
